Revealing the Invisible: the Art of Stansfield/Hooykaas from Different Perspectives

26 Nov 2010
Friday Event Lecture

Madelon Hooykaas will talk about the process of artist collaboration and in particular her working relationship with Elsa Stansfield, who studied at the Glasgow School of Art between 1962-65. Madelon’s lecture coincides with the launch of a major showing of their collaborative work, simultaneously at CCA and Street Level Photography; both galleries here in Glasgow. The publication and the DVD Revealing the Invisible will play a keynote in the lecture.

Madelon Hooykaas and Elsa Stansfield have been producing films, videos, installations and public sculptures since 1972. They have made site-specific installations in museums, artist’s run spaces and biennales in Montreal, New York, Amsterdam, Sydney, Tokyo, London, Berlin among others. After Elsa Stansfield's sudden death in 2004, Madelon has continued to produce work in their spirit. She lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
