Inspired by Mackintosh
As well as products by students, staff and alumni, the GSA Shop stocks several ranges of carefully chosen products inspired by the work of architect, artist and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Amongst the shop’s bestsellers, you will find silver, moonstone, copper, garnet stone and mother of pearl jewellery, notelets, greetings cards and prints featuring watercolours and gesso panels, handmade mirrors and reproduction studio clocks by local cabinet makers, books on Mackintosh, his work, his life and his associates, china and earthenware mugs and table ware featuring simple line drawings, cotton bags, linen tea towels, silk scarves and other textiles, all inspired by the architect of our world renowned building, the Glasgow School of Art.
In celebration of opening the fantastic new GSA Shop in September 2008, an award winning range by celebrated designer Ella Doran was also launched. Using a list of the School’s student tour guides’ favourite hidden features within the GSA’s interior, images of some of the stunning details found within have been captured in a beautiful range of photographs and utilised to produce a contemporary range of products as an alternative to the traditional Mackintosh souvenir. Beautiful clothbound books in earthy tones, photographic coasters, images framed in dark wood and bold posters and prints are now available in store.
