CONTINUING EDUCATION
Welcome to Continuing Education The Continuing Education Department offers a wide range of daytime and 'out-of-hours' Adult Courses and Children's Courses throughout the year. We are a small department of two full time and one part time members of staff, running approximately 160 courses with up to 1600 students attending annually. Our courses cover a broad range of subjects in Fine Art, Design and Architecture areas and classes are open to all members of the public, regardless of age or ability. Our courses are designed for people who would like to learn about a new subject as well as practising artists building on existing skills.
Our Portfolio Preparation Programme is also an integral part of the department. These courses are aimed at people who are considering entry to Art School or a similar course of study and have proven highly successful in students achieving their goals.
In addition to adult courses, we run a variety of Children's Courses for the younger budding artist. From an age of 7 years, students can enrol for drawing and painting classes as well as more specialist courses for the upper age groups in darkroom photography, fashion and sculpture.
Continuing Education courses take place in the studios and workshops normally used by full time students on the School's main campus in the city centre. Our tutor cohort of over 40 practising artists and designers are either members of the GSA teaching staff or local and visiting artists drawn from the wider artistic community.
